CASHAPAMPA 2 . . . PERU

Base camp at day 1. All along the cacha burros may have been my own lady friend. Sophie has an amazing art, a horse whisperer if you will. Once again the scenery was rugged and breathtaking, literally at around 3700 meters above sea level, we were wishing that we had packed a spare set of lungs.

CASHAPUMPA . . . PERU.

Somehow i really screwed up the order here. this was suppose to be about minus 5 posts ago.

Little Sophiecita and I headed up into the deepest depths of the mountains, loaded up the donkeys and headed for a 5 day hike taking us up through some of the most incredible, heaven like scenery this earth has to offer. One slip out here could seriously end your life, with no air lifting to safety.

LAGO 69. PERU.

So we were suppose to get up at 4 and do a huge days hike for our last day completing a large circuit to Lake 69 passing by a base camp that a lot of mountaineers set out from. To our dissapointment Pacha Mama was angry and was throwing rain down, making the already dangerous walk suicidal. But our guide and now good friend Abraham had his heart ion showing us as much as he possibly could, wrapped up in is tarpaulin he insisted we push on. Later on this afternoon he told me he would wait up every nigh to watch our silhouettes make love and said if I ever wanted to get rid of Sophie that he would gladly take her off my hands.
The first photo you can really get some kind of scale, little Sophie is sitting next o the immense glacial lake, with only half of it visible in the photo.

CASHAPUMPING BACK TO TOWN.

After crossing the big mountain things turned green, alpacas appeared and in a number of days we were back in some kind of civilisation. If you ever get the chance to leave our strange society and be out in pure nature with your own whits then do it.

HIGH ALTITUDE BUBBLER.

4800 meters above sea level. I dare say I hold the world record for high altitude bubblers. Sorry no photo evidence.

ABRHAM... PERU

The vastness out here is incomparable to anywhere else I've ever been. Our guide Abraham truly was a charming man, but told us that if the Chilean people on our tail caught up and talked to us again he would have to throw them off the side of the mountain.
Camp 2 was at the base of the mountain that stares at the beginning of paramount films, picturesque and passing this bad boy would be the challenge for the following morning. Poor little Sophie passed out face first in her book from the immense amount of walking we had already completed.

WET WIPE SHOWER. PERU.

Freezing to the point that you loose feeling in all the furthest extremities of your body. Swimming in a glacial lake is a must as this is the next best thing to a wet wipe shower in the high Andes.

DAS ICH GEIL YUNGER!

LIMA. PERU.

Adios Cusco, Hola Lima. We spent a Friday afternoon in the weird outskirts of Lima waiting for a night bus to head to the high mountains of Huaraz. Lima was extremely dull and ugly in contrast to mountains. For the first time since I was a teen I actually got chased out of a skatepark by 6 young 20 year old kids who tried to rob my camera and jacket. FUCKERS.
